Moldova has more than 7,000 years of winemaking tradition and is one of the region’s distinctive wine-producing countries. With over 135,000 hectares of vineyards and more than 50 grape varieties, its geography, climate and fertile soils create excellent conditions for growing both indigenous and international varieties.

Located in south-western Moldova, the Valul lui Traian PGI combines long, dry summers, significant day-to-night temperature variations and calcareous chernozem soils. These conditions support slow, even ripening and naturally balanced grapes with strong aromatic and ageing potential.

Dulgher Family Estate has approximately 360 hectares of vineyards in Romanovca and Filipeni, divided into three distinct sites. Each parcel was studied individually before planting, with grape varieties matched to its specific soil, exposure, elevation and water conditions.

Gitana Winery combines traditional winemaking practices with modern technology. Grapes are harvested and sorted by hand, while the historic cellars founded in 1953 work alongside modern equipment and a range of stainless-steel, oak and concrete vessels, each chosen according to the style of wine.

The Dulgher family stands at the heart of the estate, with Petru and Svetlana Dulgher having built the business over four decades. Today, their daughters Lilia and Iuliana, together with agronomist Patrizio Gasparinetti and winemaker Nicola Tucci, carry the family's vision forward across vineyards, winemaking and international development.
